چکیده
A substantial amount of research effort has been applied to the field environmentally assisted fatigue (EAF) due requirement account for EAF behaviour metals existing and new build nuclear power plants. We present results European project INcreasing Safety in NPPs by Covering Gaps Environmental Fatigue Assessment (INCEFA-PLUS), during which sensitivities strain range, environment, surface roughness, mean hold times, as well their interactions on life austenitic steels characterized. The included a test campaign, more than 250 tests were performed. did not reveal significant effect or time life. An empirical model describing function rate, environment roughness is developed. There evidence statistically interaction effects between range. However, impact so small that they are practically relevant can most cases be neglected. Reducing environmental modifying temperature rate leads an increase agreement with predictions based NUREG/CR-6909. limited sub-programme sensitivity times at elevated zero force conditions show beneficial found another study.

Characterization of Austenitic Stainless Steels Deformed at Elevated Temperature
Highly alloyed austenitic stainless steels are promising candidates to replace more expensive nickel-based alloys within the energy-producing industry. The present study investigates the deformation mechanisms by microstructural characterization, mechanical properties and stress–strain response of three commercial austenitic stainless steels and two commercial nickel-based alloys using uniaxial...
متن کاملLow-Temperature Carburization of Austenitic Stainless Steels
LOW-TEMPERATURE CARBURIZATION is a gaseous carburization process performed at atmospheric pressure, at temperatures where the kinetics of substitutional diffusion are very slow. Low-temperature carburization hardens the surface of austenitic stainless steels through the diffusion of interstitial carbon, without the formation of carbides. The surface must be activated, by modification and remova...
متن کاملDevelopment of Alumina-Forming Austenitic Stainless Steels
This paper presents the results of the continued development of creep-resistant, alumina-forming austenitic (AFA) stainless steel alloys, which exhibit a unique combination of excellent oxidation resistance via protective alumina (Al2O3) scale formation and high-temperature creep strength through the formation of stable nano-scale MC carbides and intermetallic precipitates. Efforts in fiscal ye...
متن کاملY Studies on Austenitic Stainless Steels
Abstract--In this investigation, the fracture surfaces of SS 304 and SS 316 austenitic steels were analysed using the X-ray fractography technique. In both cases, a decrease in the austenite content was observed at the fracture surface as a result of deformation induced martensite, indicating a linear relation with Km~ within the stable crack growth region. The presence of this martensite was f...
